+ Info
The landscape and ecology strategy for ‘Growlots’ aimed to enhance the surrounding natural environment within the agricultural development of localised sustainable organic food production. Purpose built allotment areas featuring greenhouses, would offer seasonal production of fruit and vegetables, whilst offering inclusion to a local school or society as an educational resource.
Habitat creation and bio-diversity enhancement would include successional tree planting supplemented with shrub planting, coppice woodland and wildflower grassland to enhance a diverse habitat mosaic.
Beneficial ecological adaptations within the wildflower meadow areas would include the cutting of wildflower rides through the grassland increasing the micro-climatic range and habitat potential for protected species of reptile, forage habitat for invertebrates and prey species for birds and bats.
